Ipsy Glam Bag Favourites

I have been receiving Ipsy Glam Bags (a monthly subscription service) since September, and while I know I can do without the monthly makeup bag, there have been some products that have actually made their way into my everyday routine.

Typically, Ipsy Glam Bags are filled with five beauty samples that are chosen with you in mind (after completing a style quiz upon ordering).  I won't lie to you by saying that EVERY product I've received from Ipsy has blown me away, because quite honestly, some samples have been duds, but today I'm going to share with you my Top Five Ipsy Favourites.

1 & 2: Hikari Liquid Eyeliner in Iris, & Ciate Fierce Flicks in Black

I am very much a liquid eyeliner girl.  Love it.  It's an everyday staple for me.  Prior to receiving Ipsy Glam Bags I would typical use eyeliners from Tarte and Kat Von D, and these two little babies definitely are of the same quality as brands that can be found at Sephora.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the Hikari eyeliner, as it's in the colour Iris - a mid tone purple, and a colour completely out of my comfort zone.  It actually suits my brown eyes very well and is easy to pull off for everyday wear.

The Ciate Fierce Flicks is in a standard black.  It is a bit glossier once dried than I am used to, but I've gotten used to that and actually kind of like the gloss... It's like classy glitter.

Both eyeliners last well throughout the day, but regardless of their longevity, they wash off super well!  As I said in my previous post, Beauty Things I Suck At, I just use Ivory soap to take off my makeup, so very little effort is put in on my part.  Clearly, a very easy eyeliner to work with.

3 & 4: City Color Be Matte Blush, & Pacifica Wildrose Blush

The Be Matte Blush is extremely pigmented, and the individual shades have extremely cute names; Fresh Melon, Blackberry, and Guava!  It felt like a steal the month I opened my Glam Bag to find that I not only got one blush colour, but a mini blush palette!  I love all of the shades in this trio, and sometimes even swirl my brush through all three colours for a "fourth" colour.

The Pacifica blush is not as pigmented as the City Color blushes, but I like to use it as a highlighter.  It has a beautiful golden sheen, and works very well as a blush topper.  Also, you can't really find cuter packaging... I'm such a sucker for unicorns!

5: Skone Brow Wand in Chocolate

As you can see from this picture, this product is very well loved.  I really had to work at reading the print on the package, because as you can see it has pretty much all worn off.

If eyeliner is my one vice, having amazing eye brows is the other.  This product is fantastic, and very reminiscent of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer.  It even has a spoolie on the end!  The formula is nice and waxy, and keeps my brows in place all day.  It has made doing my brows an absolute breeze.  I will be very sad when this product runs out.

Beauty Things I Suck At

Hello, everyone!
Okay, so you might be wondering why you would visit a self-proclaimed "beauty blog" only to find that the person behind the keyboard is actually not a perfect, all knowing makeup artist.  Well, believe it or not, but I'm not perfect.  I'm a regular, every day normal gal just like you ;)
There are many things beauty related that I am BOMB at, if I do say so myself.  For instance, my eyebrows have been known to bring me tears of joy on occasion, and my cat eyes are so sharp that they won’t let them through airport security.  Just kidding, but you get the idea.
So, let’s get to talking about five things I’m less than stellar at.  Enjoy!
1.     Let me come clean here.  I skip a LOT of steps when it comes to my face makeup.  While I am well aware that primers, concealers, and setting sprays are a thing, home girl just doesn’t have time for that!
2.     I am an oily skinned girl, so it would make sense that baking my face is a part of my everyday life.  Well…nope.  I won’t lie and tell you that I haven’t tried to cake on some setting powder like a boss, because I most definitely have, but it just does not work for me!  I have tried using a damp beauty blender, I’ve tried using brushes, and even powder puffs… it just doesn’t work for me.  How truly sad.
3.     If I had a magic genie, one of my wishes would be to have perfect eyelashes (okay, maybe not, but for the sake of this post let’s just pretend).  I am absolute rubbish at applying falsies.  I think I’ve successfully done it maybe three times in my life.  I understand that you need to wait until your glue is ALMOST dry, but not quite, but what I can’t master is the actual positioning of the eyelashes.  They’re either pointed in completely opposite directions, or the gap between the falsies and my actual eyelashes is absolutely huge!
4.     I would love to be the kind of person who can contour my face so well that I look like a different person, or at the very least ten pounds slimmer.  Whenever I try to contour my face I just look a little dirty… or like a five-year-old who got into her mom’s bronzer.
5.     Finally, I also suck at taking off my makeup.  While some people are into wipes, and eye makeup remover, and a whole ten step process to take their faces off, guess what I’m into… ivory soap.  I’m actually laughing at myself while I type this, but that pretty much sums up my nighttime regime.  Good old’ ivory soap.  I am probably stripping my skin of all of its moisture, but it works for me.
